Escaping an Abusive Relationship

I’m Lisa Brown, and I never imagined becoming homeless. For years, I suffered in an abusive relationship, afraid to leave because I had nowhere to go. When I finally gathered the courage to escape, I had nothing but the clothes on my back. I slept in train stations and public parks, terrified for my safety. Human Care Trust took me in, gave me a warm meal, and connected me with a women’s shelter. They also helped me access legal aid and therapy, which allowed me to heal and start rebuilding my life. Today, I have a stable job as a receptionist and a secure home where I finally feel safe. They truly saved my life.
